Exceed Soybean Inoculant

Exceed Soybean Inoculant

Our Soybean inoculant contains the beneficial rhizobia Bradyrhizobium japonicum that is specific to the sobyean plant species. Plants in the legume family benefit tremendously from adding rhizobacteria or “inoculant” to the seed. The bacteria added to the seed forms a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship with the legume plant roots. The bacteria helps capture nitrogen from the air and makes it available to the plant roots which improves overall plant growth. Members of the legume family, including soybean, may require inoculant seed treatment for best growing results.

Unless soybeans have been grown in the field within the last three years, it is best to inoculate seed right before planting. For soils that have never been host to the legume being planted, apply inoculant at a 1.5-2.0x rate.

This peat inoculant is intended to be applied on seed. It is a culture of highly effective strain of rhizobia (nitrogen-fixing bacieria) that will colonize the plant roots to gather and fix the "free" nitrogen of the air, making it available to the plants.

  • Directions

    Method 1:

The optimum method for applying inoculant for soybeans is by using the slurry method.

1.) Dampen the seed with non-chlorinated, clean, cool water at a rate of 8.5 oz of water per 50 lbs of seed.

2.) Add appropriate amount of inoculant (2.5 oz per 50 lbs of seed) and mix water, seed, and inoculant thoroughly until seed is uniformly coated.

3.) Allow 1-3 minutes for mixture to dry and plant as soon as possible.

This method should be done in a container outside of the planter box.

  • Directions

    Method 2:

Inoculant for soybeans can also be applied dry, directly onto the seed.

Mix seed and inoculant thoroughiy until seed is uniformly coated. Layering seed and inoculant will aide in this process.

Applying the inoculant dry is also recommended for seed that is pre-treated with fungicide.

Maximum seed adhesion will not be obtained by applying this product dry.

  • Warning

While Exceed® Peat for Soybean is non-toxic it is recommended that the applicator avoid inhalation. Visjon Biologics recommends the use of gloves and eye protection while using Exceed® Peat for Soybean.
